Bring a shirt, pillow case, bandana, small towel, cotton socks, or other cotton item to tie-dye! Dye only sticks to cotton, so when dyeing cotton-poly blend items, the dye only sticks to the cotton fibers giving the item a lighter, heathery look. Click to learn more about preparing your item for dyeing.
I will demonstrate several techniques for participants to select from.
Depending on the number of participants, each person may be able to dye two items.
I will provide the dyes and some gloves.
You bring the item to dye and gloves to protect your hands from the metals in the dyes. Wear old clothes!

Each week we read a short book, then create an artwork inspired by the theme or illustrations. Stories and projects include a range of themes such as seasons, animals, holidays, family, community, vehicles, colors, shapes, numbers, letters, etc.
We explore a range of 2D and 3D art media including drawing, painting, collage, printing, building, and clay. We work on some projects over several weeks. Sometimes we focus on creative exploration without creating a final project to take home. We also look at and learn to talk about artwork. And we play games.
We also learn to collaborate, to share materials and ideas, to care for our art materials, and to care for our studio space.
Minimum class size of 3, Maximum class size of 8
What Families are Saying about 2021 Summer Camps:
“My kids were extremely entertained and inspired by Mrs. Anderson’s camps. They looked forward to every day of camp!”
“My kids had a "blast" at the Fabulous Flying Machines week-long camp! They enjoyed the great mix of science and art, with fun and engaging activities that go way beyond art. Hilary did an amazing job of encouraging each camper and supporting their strengths. The kids were excited and proud to show off what they did at the end of the week!”
“The tie-dye drop-in was something that my children, ages 7 and 10, were looking forward to doing the whole summer. Since we missed the first class that Hilary offered, she graciously organized a second class for my family, three of my kids' friends and one parent. This was a great and affordable opportunity to do something messy with expert guidance that we'd been eager to do for years. We also loved the opportunity to participate in something as a family and with friends. We've received many compliments on our tie-dyed shirts! I'm hoping to arrange something like this again, perhaps to celebrate a future birthday!”
