Private and small group Art Lessons (for students age 5-adult)
I enjoy working with students of all ages. In addition to 7 years teaching art in a Title One public elementary school, I have experience teaching adult and teen workshops, summer camp, after-school art classes for kids and tweens, and in a private school. Drawing from these experiences, I offer both workshops with set projects and small group and private lessons where we work together to tailor lessons to your interests and needs.
Lessons, classes, and workshops are taught in my driveway and garage studio (with the door open unless the weather is too hot, wet, or cold. We follow reasonable health safety protocols which will be adjusted as needed. Masks are required. Sink with soap provided for frequent hand washing.
I also teach online using Zoom or Google Meet.
Project-focused Workshops lead students through a series of projects related to a theme.
Projects are introduced with discussion of artwork or a book related to the theme. Projects are usually completed over multiple sessions with the first day focused on skill building and brainstorming. Final projects encourage students to include their personal interests while applying the new skills. Projects build on one another becoming more complex and layered.
Workshops meet weekly for 3-8 weeks.
Technique-focused Workshops build specific techniques by progressing through a series of projects.
Skills are introduced by discussion of artwork that demonstrates the skill. Skills are taught step-by-step and applied to a series of intermediate projects. The final project pulls all the skills and elements of the intermediate projects together. The final project provides students the greatest opportunity for including their own interests and ideas.

If the workshops don’t meet your needs or match your interests…..
Invite up to four friends and we work together to determine your artistic interests and needs and then tailor lessons to match.
Design a workshop of specified length or schedule ongoing small group lessons that will evolve based on students needs and interests.
We work together to determine your artistic interests and needs then tailor lessons to match.
Lessons will be ongoing and we will continually consult to determine the next themes and skills to focus on as we plan projects.
Have fun making a guided art project for a birthday party, holiday party, family reunion, or other event.
