Creating a Series of Prints Inspired by Aztec Stamps
Inspired by Aztec Stamps, we created a series of prints.
Aztec stamps are made from clay and used to print designs on fabric, clay pots, paper, and their bodies. Designs are inspired by the world around them and geometric patterns.
We carved the outline of a simple everyday object into a thin styrofoam sheet which we printed on various colored papers using several colors of ink.
Next we carved geometric patterns to decorate the simple object. We printed a second darker color of ink onto our prints.
We arranged and numbered our prints to create the final series. To complete the project we added our “artist signiture”.
