Looking Close-up

Recently, I acquired a macro lens that clips to my cell phone camera. I have been experimenting to determine the benefits and limitations of this macro lens. This has led me to look at the world around me in a new way.

In an earlier blog post, I shared our Cabinet of Curiosities. For years, I have enjoyed looking at the art and nature objects displayed there as I walk past. But recently I have looked at the items differently, considering what aspects of which objects are interesting at the macro level....details, textures, sparkles, etc.

I spent hours one recent Sunday photographing fossils, rocks, and shells.
