Inspired by Nature (ages 13-18)

From big landscapes to tiny seeds, nature provides artists lots of inspiration. Learn to capture the beauties of nature using a variety of techniques.

  • Observation drawing Nature Objects: Use pencil to add value to create 3D drawings of nature objects.

  • Sumi-e painting: Find your flow painting nature with Bamboo brush and black watercolor 

  • Japanese Garden: Control your inner balance and extra fine tip permanent pens to create the variety of textures found in a Japanese garden. 

  • Tree Branch Mobile: Balance nature objects hanging from a tree branch to create a mobile.

  • Batik Eggs: Inspired by Ukranian Easter Eggs decorate raw eggs with wax and dye.

  • Nature photography: Learn about composition, lighting, cropping, and deleting when photographing nature. Basic photography skills require only the camera and photo app included on smartphones or simple digital camera with basic photo storage software.

8 week session includes many of these projects based on student’s interests.
