Summer Pre-K “Stories and the Art They Inspire” class

This summer I traveled so much that I wasn’t able to schedule many sessions of this class, but we had fun during those we had!

We read Waiting for Wings by Lois Ehlert, then created beautiful butterflies. We colored on coffee filters then added drops of water so the ink would spread out. While waiting for them to dry, we decorated wooden peg bodies. Unfortunately, they flew home before I could photograph them.

We read Birds by Kevin Henkes, then made bird masks.

We read Playground by Mies Van Hout, with campers’ fingers following paths through various mazes. We then built amazing Sculptures of places we like using potato starch packing peanuts. I loved the stories campers shared reliving their adventures as they build their Sculptures.
