“Under the Sea” Camp
We had a full dozen campers for "Under the Sea" camp ranging from rising Kindergarten to 7th graders.
We experimented with Ocean layers, currents, and waves. We learned about how fish, submarines, and submersibles rise and lower themselves through the water. We explored food chains, which are more often food webs.
As we explored under the sea, we:
Used tints and shades to paint layers of the ocean (the ocean gets darker as it gets deeper and further from the sun at the surface)
Designed submarines, both exterior and interior
Created fantasy hermit crab homes
Constructed whales, crabs, small oysters, seahorses, coral, and sharks with pop-out teeth
Drew additional sea creatures
Created Food Chain collages
On our last day, we combined our artwork to create ocean collages.
Campers enjoyed time together, as well as time drawing and creating. This session of camp included many kids of teachers, so parents spent time setting up their classrooms.
Big shout out to my amazing co-teacher Mr. Z! My teaching is always better when we collaborate!
