Fabulous Flying Machines Art and Science Summer Camp

During Fabulous Flying Machines Camp we learned about gravity and how to defy it to glide and fly and blast off.

Our special assistant dropped our parachutes from the garage roof for our "slow race". We learned about gliding as we tested different paper airplane designs folded from different types of paper. Then we made foam plate gliders. We made propellers that spin as we run or when a breeze blows. We created space backgrounds with Exploding Color Rockets. Then drew planets and collaged spacecraft and gesture drawings of people into our Space scenes. We also built spacecraft from recycled objects.

And for our Final Exhibit for Family and Friends, we launched our pneumatic paper rockets. Camp was a "blast"!

Parent perspective:

“My kids had a "blast" at the Fabulous Flying Machines week-long camp! They enjoyed the great mix of science and art, with fun and engaging activities that go way beyond art. Hilary did an amazing job of encouraging each camper and supporting their strengths. The kids were excited and proud to show off what they did at the end of the week!”
