Advanced Observation Drawing (ages 13-adult)

  • One object, Multiple techniques: learn to use a variety of techniques and media to observe and draw the same object in different ways. Discuss the benefits, challenges, limitations, potential, and uses of these techniques.

  • Japanese Garden inspired Nature scenes: identify shapes, textures, and patterns that repeat and balance to create a nature scene.

  • Drawing Furniture: use proportion, line, and texture to draw furniture you can see starting with chairs and stools.

  • Self-portrait still-life: select a collections of objects that capture this moment in your life then work with me to design your final self-portrait still-life project (does not include your face or figure).

6-8 week session includes these or similar projects based on student’s interest and skill level. (Projects, themes, and/or skills from the Introduction to Observation Drawing and Advanced Observation Drawing workshops can also be adjusted for older students.)
