Japanese Culture and Art (ages 5-10)

Using a variety of techniques we will make 2D and 3D projects inspired by Japanese art and culture. 

• Simple Fans: Decorate and fold a simple fan. 

• Koi Paintings: Paint a calm scene with Koi using Crayon resist technique.

• Origami House Landscape: Fold three sizes of origami houses then use them to anchor a landscape with fore, middle, and background.

• Insects: Create your own insect and design its native or captive habitat.

• Japanese Dragon Drawing: Draw Japanese style serpentine dragons.

• Koinobori (Koi Windsock): Decorate and assemble a Koinobori.

• Lantern with Mon (family crest): Design your own Mon to hang from your 3D lantern.  

8 Week workshop will include most projects, selected based on students interest and skill level.
